Resupply from the air in Afghan

http://newsblaze.com/story/20060630170319tsop.nb/newsblaze/TOPSTORY/Top-Stories.html
Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 150 airlift sorties, delivered 230 tons of cargo and transported 2,850 passengers. This included nearly 60,000 pounds of troop resupply airdropped in Afghanistan.

I wrote a whole spiel on my thoughts about this good and bad but decided to just post the info instead. mainly due to the fact that there is very little info out there about the overall strategy.

I will put down a few talking points.
No helicopters so must be done with Hercs. Unsure if it is Low or High alt drops.
Less interaction with locals hence less chance to win hearts and minds.
Locals won't travel roads if we are afraid to travel roads.
1 herc can carry approximately the capacity of 1 10 ton (soft target) Each convoy would have 1 diesel bowser, 1 Gas Bowser,( or jerry can substitute) 1 Food ammo and misc 10 ton along with Lavs and G wagons. Airforce is going to be busy if land routes aren't sured up by clearing no mans land to disuade IED's, Road side bombs, and land mines. Lay dust inhibitors so fields of vision can be maintained for security.
Are we spreading ourselves so thin that we can't securely deliver resupply to our troops in the outposts?

I still think a better option would be metal detecting trucks in lead, radio jamming for remote detonation deterant, and attack helicopter escort for every convoy. The presence on the ground alone is worth the danger.
