The US test of it's Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Star wars was a success.

You know it is hard to dis them for trying to protect themselves and maybe just maybe the entire world with developments like this. The problem is if they are the only ones with this set up they can become an even bigger bully and not have to worry about countries that already have Ballistic Missile capability such as China, Pakistan etc. This would throw the arms race into a whole new unbalance and start a new race for space weaponization IMHO.

Now if this technology and capability were to be under the control of lets say the United Nations or NATO then it would be a good thing but for just one country to have this kind of power of negating other super powers deterant flys in the face of any sort of peace and ultimate Nuclear war.

I think I would be more worried about the tests of missiles fire that travel under the ocean until they near their target and pop up to hit their target. The effect of traveling under the ocean would negate a heat signature from it's exhaust and radar doesn't work under the sea at least not like it does for air borne targets.

How is it that North Korea isn't allowed to test fire rockets but the US can test fire shooting down rockets? Mind you neither one is the answer as far as the world as a whole is concerned but as far as each of these entities is concerned they both have their arguements.

The thing is Pandoras box has been opened and noone knows how to shut it or even stop the race to the bottom and ultimate destruction of our little blue planet.

One wonders if the world wouldn't have been a better place if we were all one country. Hitler was just the wrong person. Will ther eever be a right person? He would need to speak lord knows how many languages, Draw upon the compassion of the rich while appeasing the outrage of the poor. Establish an accepted standard of living for the whole world. Maybe provide all of the nicities and extras as communal property. IE holiday resorts paid for by taxes. I'm starting to sound like a communist with these ideals which we all know doesn't work because of the lack of incentive to excell. Maybe socialism with a global market. Then there enters in the weakness of mind spirit and corruption of absolute power corrupts absolutely. The worst of it is the people who we hold in the highest esteem when caught breaking societies laws seldom get punished because as we all know you will get punished more for stealing a chocolate bar than you will for stealing public monies.

Initial indications are that all planned flight test objectives were achieved. This was a fully-integrated flight test of all THAAD Components, including the Launcher, Radar, Fire Control and Communications, and Interceptor. The primary objective was to demonstrate interceptor seeker characterization of a ballistic missile target in the high-endoatmosphere (just inside the earth’s atmosphere). A unitary (non-separating) Hera target missile was launched for the test and although it was not a primary objective, a successful intercept of the target occurred. Other objectives included verifying integrated system operations in a high-endoatmospheric engagement and demonstrating the interceptor’s kill vehicle’s response to in-flight communication and its ability to acquire and track an incoming ballistic missile target. The THAAD radar participated by acquiring and tracking the interceptor and target and providing in-flight target updates.
