Fish net Shuttle Foam matrix safety.

Watching the Shuttle goings on this past week. I thought it strange that the foam they spray onto the booster is just foam and doesn't have some sort of matrix to keep chunks from flying off. Something along the lines of fish net or that stuff they wrap christmas trees in. Now I'm sure it would have to be alot more technically advanced than that stuff but the principle would be the same. Like taping your windows so that bomb blasts don't send glass fragments flying everywhere.

I'm sure it would have to have expansion and contraction properties due to the excesses in temperature and related expansion and contraction involved but the main idea would be to keep the foam from breaking of in chunks a matrix of netting should accomplsh that. As well as flame retardent properties.

Ahh but who am I they just spent 1 billion trying to solve this problem.

Just a thought. I have no knowledge or experience in this field.
