Why I will only vote independant or a local interest party from now on.

OBSERVATIONS ON THE EXISTING ELECTORAL PROCESS From Complacent Nation

Background

The following is a dissertation regarding the political process, the political animals and their inter-relationship with the political process, (with particular emphasis on the western form of democratic elections), and how to prevent subversion of the system to the benefit of vested political, business, and religious interests.

Section 1. The Present Political Electoral Process.

All democracies have "various" forms of political suffrage, based upon a registered electorate, but often each system is varied to suit existing status quos and/or religious preference. The Canadian parliamentary system is based upon the British system. However, whilst in Britain party unity is ensured by the ruling party's Chief Whip, there have been important differences instituted by the Canadian Federal Liberal Party, to change the system to concentrate power in the hands of the Prime Minister and the PMO's office. To ensure that the party rank and file perform as decreed, the selection of each riding's candidate has to be vetted/agreed with the party nomination papers being signed by the Prime Minister. (Note. This was demonstrated by the ousting of Shiela Copps from her Hamilton safe seat, both because she ran against Paul Martin in the selection race for leader of the Federal Liberals, and also as she was a Chrétien loyalist ).

All political neophytes enter politics in the belief that their input is required as a representative of their local electorate and that they, as an elected representative, are required to feed this input to the party, as the party leaders need to know what the electorate want/expect. They quickly realise this error, and that they are there just to make up the party numbers and that the ruling party's agenda/manifesto is compiled by the party's inner circle. The promises made to the proletariat by all parties, before an election, bears no resemblance to the direction that the particular party intends to pursue, and has nothing to do whatever with either the wishes of the electorate or whether the proposed actions are of benefit to the country or the tax payers, just as long as the party benefits.

The motivation of all political parties is to get into power, and once ensconced, hold onto it by any means, including hoodwinking/ outright lying to the electorate, and "buying" votes, by either subsidising local businesses to prevent plant closures and/or instituting public works. This situation causes deep frustration amongst the voters, as they realise that their input is not required, just their vote to get a party "bum" on a seat in the House. This feeling of powerlessness by the proles, is one of the main reasons in the decrease number of voters exercising their political mandate, with each successive government getting into power with less and less votes. This malaise afflicting the voters was emphasised in the U.S. presidential election, just completed, when many people decided not to vote, as, "It is a waste of time, as they lie just to get elected".

All political systems must be re-designed, so as to reduce the effect of human venality, with the propensity to circumvent any checks.

Just like in this province. The roads in your district will only get funding if the elected member is part of the leaders party!
