DFO still in the dark ages
I heard a sealer on VOCM the other day talking about an obsolete rule DFO has with reference to shooting seals.
According to the sealer DFO doesn't allow the killing of seals with a shot gun buck shot because the lead shot would possible taint the meat.
News flash DFO lead shot has been illegal for a good many years. All buck shot loads nowwa days are made from steel. In fact to my knowledge the only lead shot gun load nowwa days is slugs which is allowed.
There aren't any marlets for seal meat today. The markets and industry that was created for seal meat were shut down by the protestors.
He also was saying something about the number of bb's in each shell not sure what the reasoning for disallowing this was but I know SSG shells used for hunting geese only have about 6 BB's in them.
