Recycle tire Reefs

How about we dumped all of those old used tires out on the grand banks so that the young cod and smaller species of fish have somewhere to hide from their predators. Thus allowing the cod to recover.

If they were dumped in certain areas it would create reefs and safe havens for breeding. Kinda like the ships that were sunk of the West coast for divers were argued it would creat a sfe haven for species.

It would discourage the draggers from scraping the bottom, when they pull up tons and tons of used tires. Also if draggers pull up tires they would know that they are in an off limits breeding area.

It would encourage Eco tourism by way of scuba diving depending the location and depth.

Would be a great use for all of the stock piled tires in helping the recovery of the fisheries.

Lord knows we have to do something because doing nothing doesn't seem to be working.

Comments:
After thinking about this for a bit I think the best method of linking tires would be to do it like chain links.

Cut one tire and join oit to the next so on etc etc.

Or a larger tire could be used as an anchor ring like a tractor trailer tire and car tires are cut joined to the main centre larger tire.

Basically from reading the listed links it would seem that a certain amount of critical mass needs to be attained to circument the tides and wave action from dislodging the tires and washing them ashore.
