Improved (weather) Forcasting ahead for NL

This is great news. The Harper government promises to fullfill their promise to return the weather forcasting office to Gander.
I wonder will the Liberals push to have the Ice research Institute move to NL like they promised during the campaign?
When you consider NL doesn't have a real manned military base in NL this Ice research centre would go along way towards increasing federal presence in NL unlike what the Liberals did over the past 13 years where they removed.

Gander weather services to be restored: feds

CBC News
A spokesperson with the federal Environment Department has confirmed that the Harper government will reinstate the Gander weather office.

Comments:
1) NL has one of the largest federal civil service presences of ANY province. Fourth-highest, in fact, ahead of all but the Maritimes. Higher than Ontario or Quebec. Funny how the media doesn't mention that.

2) How does moving the forecast office to Gander improve the quality of the forecast?
