New Years resolution for Ottawa by Averill Baker
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have for the past 50 years exported more per capita to foreign nations than any other province, and so on the economic balance sheet we have contributed more to the nation than any other province.
In past referendum debates, the Quebec separatist party ran advertisements saying that since Quebecers exported more per capita than the Canadian average, they could print their own money, if need be, after separation.
Of course, by that standard, since we export three times more per capita than the Canadian average and three times more per capita than Quebec, then we should be three times more confident we could print our own money if we separated.
