CBC in Conflict of interest with election coverage!

Doesn't anyone else see a conflict of interest with the CBC reporting on the election?

Pure speculative but lets say the Conservatives wanted to downsize or abolish the CBC do you think the CBC would be doing any favorable reporting on the Conservative party?

IMHO the CBC shouldn't be allowed to report on elections because they are in conflict of interest!

OK maybe they shouldn't be totally disallowed from reporting because there are areas in this country that are only serviced by the CBC but they should only be allowed to rebroadcast other MSM outlets stories. Even then they can pick and choose?
Then there are those poor slobs who can't afford Satellite or Cable like me and are stuck with peasant TV.
Kinda like asking the fox to guard the hen house, asking the CBC to cover which party will support its funding is what it amounts to.
Comments:
Well, the CBC is likened to the BBC - few question the BBC on fair reporting. Well, in comparision to Fox News, the CBC is pretty non-partisan.

The CBC does post some conservative articles, their blog watch seems to be fairly open minded. I haven't found a lot of bias out of the CBC, although I would not suggest any one voter use only one outlet for all of their news. CanWest has a slight Conservative bias, CTV is slightly Liberal.

Of course, with Harper being in the news constantly, it's hard to decide who is being biased and who is just reporting whats on the wire.

So, for any well educated Canadian, take your news from a wide range of soruces. http://www.nonpartisancanadians.org has a pretty even set of blogs that seems to post an overall non-partisan approach to the news. Checkout Wikinews for some international coverage, although Wikinews does not have even the content of one of the daily freebie newspapers, it has some excellent commentary. Just don't use one source for all of your news and you will get a pretty open non-biased view.
