You have a duty as guardians and majority representation to speak out against this unspoken assimilation of the native people of NL!

There is no way our native communities will be able to survive in their native lands with the economic pressures that are being forced upon them. Rigolet at this very moment is closing its fuel pumps because it can’t cope.

Some say that there still exists Beothuk blood mixed in with the Labrador native communities? Will we not learn from out atrocities of the past and help our, OUR native peoples live in their native home lands with pride and roughly equal social economic status.

Gas in these remote native communities is on average $30 cents higher than any where else in NL, and 50$ cents higher from the rest of Canada. They need gas to carry on living their traditional ways of hunting and gathering. Don’t say use a bow and arrow either you cynics, we took away their best hunting grounds and decimated their animal food sources, if we didn’t annihilate their food sources altogether. IE Buffalo all in the name of profit!

Why don’t NL natives have the same tax breaks as the rest of the natives through out Canada?

Generally most native communities here on the main land have cheaper gas than the surrounding non native communities. Even for the lay man not to mention if they have a status card it is even cheaper.

I say immediately remove all the taxes from goods and services in NL’s native communities. Before it is too late and another native race is forced to assimilate and will be lost forever!

Do we want to be known as the Province, country who assimilated, committed economic genocide forcing the lost of yet another native culture and people?
